Poetry #2: Bonapart

A boy they say

A man is truly what came to play

Short, too little

A fighting spirit burning on a griddle

Big ambition as always

Mind stretched too far like a maze

Good when it comes to strategize

A brilliant mind

Amazing sacrifice

In sum he conquered the land

But fell too short in his plan

Nonfiction: How The Napoleonic Wars Helped Shape Our Society

What Napoleon did to impact our society?                                                    The Napoleonic Wars had a massive impact on our society and governments today. For instance, during the coalitions, Napoleon took control of land from Spain all the way to Sweden and the baltic states! You may not think a Corsican could amount this great power but many came to see they were mistaken.

How Napoleon took to power                                                                              The Napoleonic Wars created a massive wave of panic and terror as the short king took to power. Napoleon took his stand after the ending of the French Revolution in 1799. Over time, he crowned him emperor of France! However, after Napoleon’s time came to an end, his everlasting impact didn’t.

How Napoleon changed our culture                                                                     As Napoleon swept across Europe, he brought along his ideals with him. For example, Napoleon brought along the idea of a centralized government and to abolish the class system. Many leaders in other countries such as Austria,Prussia,Russia, and England despised this because they wanted to maintain all the power to themselves. Unfortunately for them, history took its course. Napoleons brilliant military strategies allowed him to sweep across Europe. He made many countries change their governments and what the society should do.

What lasting impact did Napoleon have?                                                    Due to Napoleon’s actions, many places we know could’ve been very different. Countries such as Sweden,Great Britain, and Austria have changed their governments from the cruel oppressive rulers to a civilized power for the people centralized government. Why I chose Napoleon’s Story Napoleon’s history is very important to our modern day society. Without Napoleons course, many things wouldn’t have happened. Land barriers or borders could’ve been vastly different. Without this Corsican’s reign, World War 1 and 2 may not have existed! I believe without Napoleon we wouldn’t be here today. This explains why I want others to get to know this time period and the course it led us down to get us here today.

Informational: Cause And Effect Of The French Revolution During Napoleon’s Reign

During Napoleon’s early life, he encountered many troubles. For instance, when France bought Corsica in 1768, many native Corsicans had to adopt the French ideals. Napoleon’s father was one of them, but Napoleon had different ideas. When the French Revolution occurred in 1789, Napoleon was able to make his start as a second lieutenant in an Artillery Regiment. Winning many crucial battles helped Napoleon climb the ranks to the top of the French Military. Since King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were executed by guillotine in 1793, this led to a power gap which Napoleon eventually filled. Napoleon took the role as the leader of France and later became Emperor. The effect of the French Revolution led a man with tons of ambition to a conquest of Europe over the next fifteen years. These fifteen years can be best summed up in five coalitions. In conclusion, The French Revolution created a monster which consumed over six million lives in less than two decades! With one man and an army at his side, you can achieve many valiant victories and gruesome  atrocities.

Fictional Story: If Napoleon Won The Battle Of Waterloo

If you know your history then you would know that Napoleon’s reign ended at the battle of Waterloo. On that fateful day, Napoleon lost against the Dutch, Belgians, Russians, and Prussians. But what if he didn’t. If Napoleon won that crucial battle, France could’ve been more than the surrender on sight you may know from the 20th century. Napoleon would’ve never been sent to St. Helen. He may have not died of stomach cancer at the end of his life. If Napoleon won the battle of Waterloo, I think he would’ve used that stockful of ambition he had to aim for a little island off the French coast. The English Channel was the only thing separating Napoleon from a widespread invasion of England. However, winning that battle would’ve given him the allies and the resources to plan this great invasion. With Russia,Spain,Prussia, and Austria at his side, Napoleon would invade England! This would be one of the largest invasions in history! England’s mastery of the water would aid them in some crucial decisive victories, but Napoleon would become victorious. King George III would try to negotiate, but Napoleon had other ideas. England would eventually fall and become a puppet under Napoleon’s thumb and would convert to a more centralized government. Since Napoleon didn’t die isolated on St. Helen, he would die of old age of 72 in 1842.

Fiction #3: If Corsica Revolted

When you study the Napoleonic Wars, you come to realize that Napoleon wasn’t originally French. In 1769, the island of Corsica was bought by France. Shortly after, Napoleon rose to power in France and created the impact we know today. However, what if Corsica revolted from France. If this happened, Napoleon would’ve risen to power and united the Corsican people. France would quickly respond and send the military to stop the uprising. However, Corsica was prepared. Napoleon would humiliate France and especially King Louis XVI. He would be outraged and embark on a military conquest of Corsica. Throughout this 12 year campaign, the Corsican people would bravely defend their homeland they loved so much. However, in 1781, Corsica would fall and Napoleon would die in the battle of Calvi. Even though they fought so bravely, they eventually fell to the French power. Over time the Corsican revolution would be forgotten and become another after thought of the French mind.

Fiction #2: If Napoleon Was Emperor Of France In The Modern Day

As you may know, Napoleon’s time came to an end in the mid 1850s on the small island of St. Helen. Many wonder what he could’ve done if he didn’t make some fatal errors or if he won some crucial battles. However, I wonder what life would be like if he took control of France in the 21st century rather than the 19th. If Napoleon took control in today’s world life would be very different. For instance Napoleon would win the election by a staggering margin due to the promise of food for the people after the last oppressive rulers made life brutal for the people of France to live. After a few short years, he would take complete control of the government and declare himself emperor of France! Due to the peace treaties France has with the U.S,U.K, and Australia, he would hire mercenaries to make countries such as Russia,Mexico, and Brazil to declare war on France. Over time, this would develop into what many know as World War III. Shortly, over 85% of the world’s countries would be at war. Napoleon would use his allies’ nukes to destroy the entire eastern seaboard of Asia. In retaliation, Russia would launch all of its nuclear arsenal at France and the U.S. In 5 short years, the whole world would go into a nuclear winter. If Napoleon was emperor of France in the modern day, his ambition would destroy the thing he tried to fight for the whole time.
